Schichten

The short piece Schichten was developed for the Kulturbrugg Festival 2021.

The collective wanted the piece to focus on time, falling into oblivion or commemorating the self in history. The story was about a shipwreck that sank in the 16th century during a plague epidemic in the Brugg area.

The staging included driftwood from the river Aare as a central part of the space, historical sources about the shipwreck and sounds that were created with and through the material. The setting symbolised the site of the shipwreck underwater, where the survivors of the story searched for remains, clues and their place in history. The piece was not only performed three times during the festival, but it also took projekt.vakuum further in defining and searching for their the collaborative working method.
