The Nest was Friederike's graduation project at the Lir Academy. In
five shows and a preview it ran from the 08.06.2024 until the
12.06.2024 in Studio 2 at the Lir Academy in Dublin.
The environmental drama The Nest, by Franz Xaver Kroetz, translated by
Conor McPherson, is set
in 2024, Dublin. Martha and Kurt, expecting parents, reside in a small
apartment, work tirelessly,
yet their efforts never suffice. When Kurt is offered quick money for a
mysterious extra job, his decision is swift.
The Nest delves into the interplay between individual choices and
collective consequences, exposing the underlying violence within our
socioeconomic structure. The production explores what the mechanisms
beneath nesting behaviour under working poor conditions in todays
society are, what is fuelling them and who gets to keep the profits.
